Essential reading:
OTT Mountain Bike is not a “club” but a group of friends who enjoy riding together. We hope that you will take the time to read these points;
• We don’t conduct a risk assessment before each ride and ask riders to ride within their own capabilities and be responsible for the fun that is Mountain Biking.
• We don’t offer any form of third party insurance and we don’t make insurance a condition of riding with us however we recommend riders consider personal membership with British Cycling, which includes liability insurance and legal advice for a very modest cost.
• Mountain biking does have a degree of risk and we ask all those who join our rides to take this into consideration and wear an appropriate helmet for every ride.
•
OTT Mountain Bike and its riders cannot accept liability or responsibility for any incidents that may occur during our rides. Those new to the sport should ensure they are prepared for the inevitable; puncture, mechanical, rain shower, odd tumble or two (hence OTT – over the top).
• Riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Unless a rider has a good level of fitness, some of the longer rides (25-30 miles +) will not be suitable. As a rule of thumb 25 miles off road is roughly equivalent to 50 miles on tarmac.
• Always bring a helmet, water, food, pump, spare inner tubes, multi-tool.
• The routes are a mix of public right of way and bridle paths, some of these are joined by pathways where, as responsible riders, we dismount. Horse riders and walkers are given priority at all times.
• We respect the trails we share with others and observe the trail rules described by the IMBA (International Mountain Biking Association).
• As responsible riders, we always make walkers aware of our presence and slow down when un-leashed dogs are nearby - We acknowledge that we are not the only ones using the trails.
• All riders must provide us with some basic information so we have a record of who is riding with us.
If you’re joining us on a ride all we ask is:
1. Register on the Bulletin Board – use the REGISTER NOW link below
2. Post that you’re coming on our board (please don’t just turn up)
3. Most importantly; remember your helmet, water, food, spare inner tube and multi tool
And here is a taste of what is to come .....
